Record Company Logo Designs

Following on from the research we did about other existing record labels from similar artists, we decided to create some logos that we could use for our own record label.

The treatment for creating these logos was to keep them quirky and different, encompassing the "indie" genre of music that will appear most on our record label.

1.

2.

Health and safety while filming.

We need to make sure that during filming each member of our cast and crew are completely safe.
The scenes which require health and safety are: Wildlife show,Lost and Vintage cinema.

we need to take precautions for the wildlife show section as we will be dealing with live chickens. When near the chickens, our cast and crew must wear jackets and gloves and keep all skin covered to avoid any accidents from scratching or biting.

In the Lost scene we must take precaution as we are running across the beach,on a day when it should hopefully be raining,We need to ensure that the area is safe,so we will clear a clean runway for ourselves so know debris or rubbish is in the way that could cause potential harm.
All shoelaces must be tied at all times.

And finally in the Vintage scene,we will be filming on potentially busy roads so must stay aware of all moving cars.

Initial Treatment

Taking the lyric from the song "I watch T.V because I'm lazy" we have decided to create a music video that incorporates a variety of television shows in a parodic way.

As our video will be, in a sense, made up of sections (each program being a section). Individual treatments will be created for each section.

Feedback of our pitch

Pitch

As a group we plan to pitch the work we have done to date to the rest of our media class. From this we are hoping to gain feedback which will develop our project further.

We are going to use our blog as a reference whilst pitching our work.

Song Lyrics.

I'm the one who makes mistakes
I'm the one who cant say sorry
I get bored far too easily and
I watch TV cos I'm lazy

I'm the one who says goodbye
I'm the one who doesn't have the time
I get bored far too easily and
I watch TV cos I'm lazy

I want to be the one who can dance about
Getting drunk
I get bored far too easily and
I watch TV cos I'm far too lazy

I'm the one who says goodbye
I'm the one who doesn't have the time
I get bored far too easily and
I watch TV cos I'm lazy

I say, Ice Age

Full frontal nudity and
I say, I say

I'm the one who says goodbye
I'm the one who doesn't have the time
I get bored far too easily and
I watch TV cos I'm lazy

I'm the one who says goodbye
I'm the one who doesn't have the time
I get bored far too easily and
I watch TV cos I'm lazy

I say, Ice Age

Band Members

We now have two band members via our poster auditions to play Guitar(Sam Gillard) and drums (Joseph Gauci), we decided for the roles of bass and singer/guitarist we would boldly step in to perform ourselves (Kane and Jack) Now we have finalised this we will begin to start our photo shoot for digipak and our shooting of our video.

These are shots of the band members taken from their facebooks:

Audition Poster

We created this poster to put up around college, to recruit actors/real band members to perform in our music video.

We wanted to hold auditions to find a variety of different people , that will help us decide the look of our band.

Casting

We decided that we would start to plan who would be starring in our music video. We intend to cast our band (one drummer, one bass player, one guitarist and one singer/guitarist or alternatively two guitarists and a singer) using viral marketing. As apposed to simply asking people, we intend to put advertisements around to college for people to 'audition' for each particular role. If this fails we will simply ask around and use friends for the band members.

Sourcing a song for our music video.

We wanted to find a generic indie pop song to use for our music video so we found a number of bands both from previous knowledge or through a genre search on Myspace.

We sent a request to gain permission from a number of bands that fit our requirements:

Stornoway, We Have Band, Throw Me The Statue, Connan Mockasin, Wavves, Good Shoes and Sky Larkin.

We received three replies from Good Shoes, Stornoway and Connan Mockasin; all confirming that we would be able to use their music. And we chose to use Good Shoes' "Ice Age" as it was the most suitable for the ideas we had and also, in the song, it has the lyrics "I watch T.V because I'm lazy" which incorporates the television style theme that we are hoping to achieve. Also they do not currently have a music video for this song, so we can be totally original with it and take the song into a new direction.

These are our replies from Connan Mockasin and Stornaway, the two which we decided against using.

Final idea

Expanding on our original idea of using shopping channel style advertisement as our video, we began to think about how we could make it last for the duration of the song without it getting repetitive and boring. So while still running with the theme of television shows we decided that instead of just the one pastiche we would incorporate a variety of t.v. shows including; news, drama, sporting events, kids shows and reality tv.
Taking influence from the video 'Sabotage' by Beastie Boys.

As opposed to beginning the video straight into the tv show,we decided that it would be more effective to show a young teen turning on a t.v and then the camera would shift towards the television and eventually go 'into the t.v' such as the intro of the t.v show 'Captain N the Game Master' and the shift between the first storyline and second storyline in the mexican film 'Amores Perros'

QVC/shopping channels idea.

Following from our previous ideas and research we came up with the idea of fusing the idea of a conventional 'band playing live' music video with a shopping channel pastiche. We came up with the plan of creating a glossy looking tv makeup style introduction to the band by a presenter, who's main objective is to sell the band to the viewer.

following on from this it would be a live performance of the band, with the inclusion of the left screen and bottom panels showing information on the band and details of how to purchase the bands current record as they show on these types of programs.
We also wanted to incorporate a pause in the usual viewing with a 'introductory offer' as used frequently in late night shopping adverts, such as muzzy:

A similar artist to have used this theme is Dizzee Rascal, who used this video style to promote his most recent album 'Tongue in Cheek' with television adverts across all channels on TV.
Unfortunately we couldn't locate this advert online to show.
